Cover
A single upcycled bag is featured on the cover. It is surrounded by recycled items, old magazines and glass jars. The "U" in Upcycled is adorned with arrows to suggest the "upcycling" of the projects in the book. A recycle symbol is placed in the center of the "C" to tie in the recycling of the materials used to make each project in the book.
Interior Spreads
The overall look of the book is slightly retro and urban. Most of the spreads in the book have a textured gray background with the acception of each project openers which have the addition of a teal circle textured background. Project photos are placed at a slight angle to show the playfulness of the projects. They are surrounded by a zig-zag stitched line which was pulled from the stitching on the projects. Each materials list is sectioned off with arrows which tie into the cover design.
Interior Photography
Photography was shot by an in-house photographer and art directed by myself with the assistance of a stylist. The sample shots below showcase the retro feel I was going for with the following props; floral table cloth, retro map brochure, vintage camera, and slides.
